Tim Mellor's Reviews

Tim Mellor

Tim Mellor

Tim Mellow was brought up on his Aunt's farm on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, so being out in the hills (usually rounding up stray sheep), was a way of life from an early age. Aged about 12, he was inspired after reading 'High Adventure', Edmund Hillary's account of the first ascent of Everest. This sparked an interest in the outdoors, and a subsequent taste for hiking and climbing after getting his Duke Of Edinburgh's Gold Award.

Tim was involved in Mountain Rescue whilst a fireman in Buxton and was also a keen mountain biker until being wiped out by an old lady in a big Mercedes, leading to a couple of years of surgery.

Now in his late 50s, he has trekked across a large part of North Africa, Germany and Sweden, and climbed in Germany, France and Spain. He climbs twice a week, either indoors or outside and tries to get a long walk (15 miles or more) at least once a month. Summer will often find him camped out at a crag somewhere in the UK for a couple of nights.

He also races downhill in-line skateboard and was ranked World No.7 in 2009. If you've never seen an in-line skateboard, click the link below to watch Tim in action!
